The Dred Scott Heritage Foundation will mark its twentieth anniversary with a major Juneteenth celebration and fundraising event at Busch Stadium on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, as the St. Louis Cardinals take on the San Diego Padres at 6:45 p.m.
The commemorative evening will honor the legacy of two historic figures connected to Foundation President Lynne M. Jackson — freedom seekers Dred Scott and Harriet Scott, whose names became forever linked to the infamous 1857 Dred Scott Decision, and Negro League baseball icon Oscar Charleston, widely regarded as one of the greatest all-around players in baseball history.
The celebration combines history, sports, education, and community engagement during the Juneteenth season, while supporting the Foundation’s ongoing mission of commemoration, education, and reconciliation.
The event will feature a dedicated fan section filled with activities throughout the game, along with a private suite reception for special guests, supporters, and sponsors. Organizers say the evening will include anniversary tributes, photo opportunities, between-inning festivities, and community recognition moments designed to honor both the historical significance of the Scott family legacy and the enduring impact of Negro League baseball.
Among the invited guests and supporters are acclaimed biographer Jeremy Beer, author and entrepreneur Virgal Woolfolk, sports journalist Rob Rains, writer Sally Tippett Rains, documentary producer Jerald Harkness, and Bob Kendrick of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
Community organizations and media partners supporting the event include Bott Radio Network and The Rawlings Experience, among others.
Foundation organizers are encouraging families, churches, civic groups, and supporters across the region to attend and help provide opportunities for youth and underserved groups to experience the celebration. Supporters who are unable to attend are also encouraged to sponsor tickets for young people and community organizations.
A special commemorative souvenir will be presented to the first 300 ticket purchasers. Organizers also announced that if ticket sales exceed 500 attendees, the Foundation will receive an opportunity for an on-field presence before the game.
General admission fan section tickets are available for $25, while limited private suite seating remains available while supplies last.
Tickets and additional event information are available through the Foundation’s official website:
Dred Scott Heritage Foundation at www.dredscottlives.org
Mail-in ticket orders must be received by June 1, while online ticket sales will continue through June 14.
The Dred Scott Heritage Foundation was established to preserve and promote the historical legacy of Dred Scott and the continuing struggle for freedom, equality, and civil rights in America.
