The St. Louis community will gather on Saturday, May 23, 2026, for a Special Public Memorial Tribute honoring the extraordinary life, leadership, and global impact of Minister Abdul Akbar Muhammad — a revered servant, teacher, diplomat, and national representative of the Nation of Islam under the leadership of Minister Louis Farrakhan.

The memorial tribute will be held at Muhammad Mosque #28, located at 5967 W. Florissant Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri 63136. Doors will open at 3:00 p.m., and the program will begin promptly at 4:00 p.m.

Minister Abdul Akbar Muhammad’s legacy reaches far beyond St. Louis. For decades, he served as one of the most respected international voices of the Nation of Islam, representing Minister Farrakhan throughout the United States, Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and other parts of the world. Known for his diplomatic skill, intellectual depth, calm demeanor, and unwavering commitment to justice and human dignity, he became a bridge-builder between cultures, faith communities, governments, and oppressed people worldwide.

In St. Louis, his impact was deeply personal.

Minister Abdul Akbar Muhammad played a significant role in strengthening the spiritual, civic, and community foundation of the local Muslim community while supporting initiatives focused on empowerment, education, economic development, discipline, and self-determination. His presence carried both wisdom and humility, making him a respected figure not only within the Nation of Islam, but across religious, political, and community circles throughout the region.

Nationally, he was recognized as a trusted advisor, strategist, and spokesperson whose work elevated the Nation of Islam on the world stage. He frequently engaged in international dialogue surrounding human rights, diplomacy, Pan-African solidarity, and global peace initiatives. His leadership reflected a rare ability to navigate both grassroots activism and international engagement with equal conviction and dignity.

Those who knew Minister Abdul Akbar Muhammad often describe him as disciplined, compassionate, intellectually gifted, and deeply devoted to the mission of uplifting Black communities and advocating for justice around the world. His life embodied service, sacrifice, and unwavering faith.

The May 23 memorial tribute is expected to draw religious leaders, elected officials, community activists, scholars, students, and supporters from across the country who were impacted by his leadership and mentorship. The program will celebrate not only his historic accomplishments, but also the enduring principles he represented — unity, self-respect, faith, education, and global consciousness.

As St. Louis pauses to honor one of its most influential sons, the memorial stands as both a reflection on a remarkable life and a reminder that Minister Abdul Akbar Muhammad’s work and vision continue to inspire generations locally, nationally, and internationally.
