The Argus has been Missouri's leading voice for the Black community since [Year]. Our pages are built on a foundation of community storytelling. We welcome and encourage submissions from writers, activists, scholars, and community members who have a story to tell, an opinion to share, or an event to announce. Please review the guidelines below before submitting your work.
What We're Looking For:
We prioritize content that aligns with our mission of equitable representation, accurate reporting, and serving the St. Louis community.
Community News: Updates on local events, neighborhood developments, and grassroots initiatives.
Opinion & Commentary: Thoughtful, well-argued editorials on current events, politics, and social justice issues affecting our community. (500-800 words)
Feature Stories: In-depth profiles of local leaders, artists, activists, and businesses making a difference. (800-1200 words)
Arts & Culture: Previews, reviews, and stories about local art, theater, music, and cultural events.
Announcements: Submitted notices for community events, job postings, and opportunities.
Submission Guidelines:
To help our editors review your submission efficiently, please adhere to the following:
Formatting: Submit articles as a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) document or in the body of your email. Use a standard, readable font like Times New Roman or Arial (12pt).
Fact-Checking: Ensure all names, titles, dates, and facts are accurate. Please cite sources for any data or statistics used.
Attachments: If your piece requires photos, please attach them as separate .jpg or .png files. Do not embed images in the document. Ensure you have the right to publish all submitted images.
Your Information: Include your full name, a brief 1-2 sentence bio, and your phone number with your submission. Please indicate if you are submitting on behalf of an organization.
Submit Your Article:
Submit: Use the form below to send your article and materials directly to our editorial team.
Review: Our editors will review your submission. Due to the volume of submissions we receive, we cannot respond to every entry individually.
Notification: You will only be contacted if our team decides to move forward with your submission. This process can take up to 2 weeks.
Editing: All articles are subject to editing for clarity, length, and AP Style guidelines.
What Happens Next?
After you hit “submit,” you will see an on-screen confirmation that we have received your materials. Our editorial team reviews all submissions carefully. Please note: We receive a high volume of submissions and regret that we cannot provide individualized feedback on every article that is not accepted for publication.
